Previously, the numbers behind Pablo had been a mystery. The album didn’t hit the Billboard 200 album chart after its release because West declined to share streaming numbers via Tidal with Nielsen Music, an industry source told EW last month. (The record racked up over 500,000 illegal downloads within a couple days of its Feb. 14 release, according to Torrent Freak.)
After being on the market for just a year, Tidal’s subscriber numbers are still behind those of their competitors: Last week, Spotify CEO announced it had 30 million paying for their service, while Apple Music floats over 11 million.ew
