Kathleen has said she is responsible for the release of more wrongfully convicted people than any other private attorney in America, and Steven is next on her list. She’s already assembled a team of the most qualified people she knows, and they’re hard at work trying to free Steve. As a matter of fact, they’ve already identified “a couple” new suspects.
“We have a couple,” said Kathleen to Newsweek when they asked about new suspects. “I’d say there’s one, leading the pack by a lot. But I don’t want to scare him off, I don’t want him to run.” That’s why Kathleen refused to name the suspects. However, she did admit that they were all men that knew the victim of the grizzly murder, Teresa Halbach. We’ve had a theory since the beginning that her brother or ex-boyfriend did it, and now we’re sticking by that!

“We have to have new evidence that could not have been obtained before that would result in no juror believing that Steven Avery committed the crime,” said Kathleen. That sounds pretty promising, and we can’t wait to find out what it is. “So that’s the standard — it’s kind of a high hurdle to jump, but we can jump it with the new technology. With someone who’s innocent, you can definitely jump that hurdle.”
