When doing makeup for the holidays, it's easy to get carried away and cram too many beauty trends into one look. Remember, it's important to maintain balance and combine trends that complement one another for the most alluring effect!

For darker skin tones, it's crucial to choose warmer foundations that will make your complexion radiate, instead of appearing grey and ashy. And for the eyes, play with color during the holidays! Choose jewel tones to bring out the highest color intensity and make your eyes pop.
Consider jewel tones, like sapphire, when choosing your eyeshadow. Try Make Up For Ever Star Powder ($20 each) for highly pigmented jewel-tone shadows.

These eyes are so bold in color that they really are the focal point of the look. When paired with a soft, natural lip color, it balances the eyes and brings attention to them.

The Look: Dynamic Black Smoky Eyes and High-Gloss Lips
Less is more with this style. Apply a tiny amount of black or clear lid lacquer by NYX ($7 each) to the center of the eyelid, allowing it to spread naturally from your body heat. The lips should be super pale and match your skin tone to really get that high-fashion, runway effect.
The Look: A Matte Red Lip

There is nothing more feminine, sexy, and show-stopping than a matte red lip. Always be sure to use matching long-lasting red lip liner to get that perfect defined pout. It’s important to keep the rest of the face clean and fresh, allowing the lip to speak for itself. DIY this style with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl ($26).

The Look: Cat-Eye Winged Liner
This is a great look for someone who wants to appear done-up and clean all at once. And there's nothing more sultry than a cat-wing liner to really accentuate the shape of your eyes.

When the makeup is bare, it’s important to highlight on the cheekbones and contour in the hollows of the cheeks to emphasize the natural bone structure for heightened definition.

DIY it using Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink ($25), Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight ($44) for highlight, and Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Dark ($44) for contouring.popsugar
