Chanel Cruise runway shows take the Parisian-based brand all over the world. Last year the company traveled to Seoul, South Korea and now the team is venturing to Havana, Cuba for its 2017 resort collection, bringing a fresh, fashionable spirit to the country’s newly-opened borders.
Turning Paseo de Prado, the dividing line between Old and New Havana, into a private runway, according to Vogue, a few of Karl’s favorite models such as Stella Tennant, Mariacarla Boscono, Lindsey Wixson, Soo Joo Park, and Kendall Jenner, all took to the catwalk showing off vibrant,
patterned fashions as well as toned-down black and white styles that channeled the spirit of Cuba as the French fashion house presented its Cruise 2017 collection on Tuesday night.
Before the show, guest were given a cultural tour of the city with pitstops at places like Earnest Hemingway’s house and an exhibition of Lagerfeld’s photography held at the Factoria Havana, before being driven to the show courtesy of a fleet of 170 rainbow-hued vintage convertibles.
A handful of A-listers were in attendance, like model Gisele Bundchen, actor Vin Diesel and Tilda Swinton, and even Fidel Castro’s grandson Tony, all sitting in the front row on the actual park benches that line the city street.
