Peter Gallagher joins NBC's Cruel Intentions revival

Sources confirm to EW that Peter Gallagher has been cast as Edward Valmont in NBC’s upcoming Cruel Intentions revival.
According to Variety, which first reported the news, Mr. Valmont is a “powerful and ruthless biollionaire hotel magnate with fingers in many far-reaching financial pies.” So he’s basically a version of Caleb Nichol, is what we’re saying. (Fifty bucks says he’ll live in a McMansion.).

Gallagher joins Sarah Michelle Gellar in the pilot, which picks up 15 years after the movie ended and follows Gellar’s Kathryn as she fights for control of Valmont International. Other cast members include Kate Levering as Annette, the role played by Reese Witherspoon in the movie.

The pilot comes from the minds of Roger Kumble, the original writer/director of the film, and writers Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross, who were behind Cruel Intentions: The Musical along with The Unauthorized O.C. Musical. So basically, their worlds are colliding, and all of us can thank them for it.ew
