Kansas Mother of Five Dies a Week After Giving Birth to Triplets: 'I Have to Be Strong,' Says Dad

When Casi and Joey Rott found out they were expecting triplets, the couple, who were already parents to two daughters, ages 6 and 2, did everything in their power to make sure the babies were healthy and carried full-term.



On Jan. 29 – at 34 weeks pregnant – Casi went in for a scheduled C-section and all three babies were safely delivered. The proud parents couldn't wait to leave the hospital and start their lives as a family of seven.

But Casi never got to welcome her newborns into their home in Clay Center, Kansas.

On Feb. 8 – just one week after giving birth to Levi, Asher and Piper – Casi died from a blood clot in her lungs.
