Former Bachelor Contestant Lex McAllister Dies After Apparent Suicide

An Ohio socialite who vied for Jake Pavelka's heart on season 14 of The Bachelor has died after an apparent suicide attempt – which marks the second time a contestant from that year killed herself.


On Saturday, Alexa "Lex" McAllister was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus in stable condition after someone who received a text in which she threatened to kill herself called 911, according to a police record obtained by PEOPLE.

The caller checked on McAllister at her home, where empty prescription bottles were found. The report states that Mcallister regained consciousness but "was unable to state to medics what kind of medication she took."

A Grant hospital official confirms she died at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday.

Mcallister, 31, competed on ABC's hit dating show in 2010 but didn't receive a rose in the first week.
