On Monday night, Johnson posted a message on Instagram, saying how excited he was for Fast 8 and how he loved working with his female co-stars.
The Rock, however, also went on a mini-rant, calling out a couple of his male co-stars for being unprofessional and “Candy asses” and for being too “chicken sh*t” to confront him – but about what, we aren’t sure. Johnson wrote, “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.”
Many speculated that Johnson’s ire was aimed at newcomer Scott Eastwood, but now TMZ is reporting the Rock’s pissed at the franchise’s main star, Diesel.
Despite having worked harmoniously on the three previous installments, production sources told TMZ the two butted heads on this eighth FF installment, in part because Diesel is one of Fast 8’s producers and made decisions Johnson wasn’t happy with.
Another source told E! News that shooting this installment of the franchise “wasn’t easy for anyone,” but it was “especially” hard on Johnson.
The insider said the set environment “didn’t feel exactly the same,” adding that Johnson, while usually “the best guy on the planet to work with,” is “also a very emotional guy” and “likes things to go as he sees fit [while] also being fair.”
According to TMZ, Johnson and Diesel held a secret meeting on the Atlanta set on Tuesday to perhaps try and work through the issues. Still, a throwdown between these two would be too epic, amirite?!
