That's the beauty of it," a prosecutor, who delivered the message for the woman, told the network. "I don't need labels, categories, to prove I am worthy of respect, to prove that I should be listened to."
"I am coming out to you as simply a woman wanting to be heard. Yes there is plenty more I'd like to tell you about me. For now, I am every woman."
The incident occurred last January, and Brock Turner was found guilty in March of this year for sexually assaulting the woman while she was unconscious outside of an on-campus fraternity party.
Last week Turner was handed a controversial six-month jail sentence along with three years of probation.
Following the sentencing, Judge Aaron Persky faced intense backlash and a Change.org petition was even set up, requesting that he be recalled from his position.
"Judge Persky failed to see that the fact that Brock Turner is a white male star athlete at a prestigious university does not entitle him leniency," the petition states. "He also failed to send the sexual assault is against the law regardless of social class gender or other factors."
The petition has received over 750,00 signatures.
On Tuesday, Girls star Lena Dunham dedicated a sexual assault PSA to the "brave survivor" of the incident, adding that she has "given so much to change the conversation."
