CCT: Saraki's Trial Stalled Over Absence of Witness

By Chinenye Ugonna.The trial of Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has been stalled absence of a witness, Wetkas, asked for permission to take the day off – The trial was supposed to take place today, June 1, for the cross-examination of the witness – Wetkas has been undergoing cross-examination for about three weeks at the CCT  Senator Bukola Saraki as he arrived the CCT during one of his appearances.
The trial of Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) was stalled on Wednesday, June 1 because of the absence of the prosecution witness, Michael Wetkas. A reliable source told NAIJ.com that the proceedings were stalled because the witness asked for permission to take the day off. . The date of the next proceeding at CCT is yet to be communicated. Wetkas has been undergoing cross-examination for about three weeks at the CCT. Meanwhile, at the last proceeding, Wetkas, who is also a detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, May 25, admitted that some of the evidences he tendered before the tribunal against Senate president Bukola Saraki were incomplete. Saraki is currently facing a 16- count charge of false asset declaration while he was the Governor of Kwara State. Wetkas alleged that Saraki did not declare a property he bought in 1993 during his assets declaration of 2003. On further cross-examination, Wetkas further accepted that Allied Properties, a company that was registered on 15th March 1992, also received another C of O, from Nasir El Rufai, former FCT Minister, in its name. . Saraki has been charged with 13 counts of false declarations of assets while he was the governor of Kwara state.‎
