Star Wars’ Admiral Ackbar, Erik Bauersfeld, Dies at 93

Erik Bauersfeld, who voiced Star Wars’ Admiral Ackbar, has passed away at the age of 93.
The Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor died on Sunday, April 3, at his home in Berkeley, California, his manager, Derek Maki, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Actor Erik Bauersfeld, known by Star Wars fans around globe as the voice of Admiral Ackbar, has passed away," Coolwaters Productions said in a statement to USA Today. "His passing comes at the age of 93 and the cause was natural causes. Erik will be deeply missed by his family here at Coolwaters and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."Bauersfeld’s character is famous for his “It’s a trap!” line during the Death Star fleet attack scene in 1983’s Return of the Jedi.

The late star also voiced Jabba the Hutt’s staffer Bib Fortuna in Return of the Jedi. His other credits include Guillermo Del Toro’s 2015 film Crimson Peak and Steven Spielberg's 2001 film A.I. Artificial Intelligence. usmagazine
