While Trent Harmon may have taken home the title of our final American Idol, runner-up La’Porsha Renae is going to have the exact same career opportunities as she’s just signed to show mentor Scott Borchetta‘s Big Machine records. HollywoodLife.com spoke to Scott about his decision to make BOTH finalists into hitmakers.
“Here is what we are going to do, we are going to sign them both! We are going to something different this season, I love both of them! So they are both signed and I am honored to say that she is the first artist signed to Big Machine/Motown! I love them both and they are both great!” Scott told reporters about La’Porsha following American Idol‘s Apr. 7 finale.
La’Porsha revealed: “I have already been signed! It is an honor to sign to Big Machine and Motown and 19 records,” clearly happy that her singing career will live on long after American Idol. According to Billboard, her album will be overseen by Ethiopia Habtemariam, president of Motown and president of urban music/co-head of creative at Universal Music Publishing Group, so she’s going to be working with the best of the best when it comes to putting out her debut record.
