"We are splitting due to the cliché irreconcilable differences, but we're splitting amicably," Barash told Soap Opera Digest in a statement. "We have every intention of remaining a family through this and successfully co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the efforts of raising her in a healthy environment."
Before deciding to split, the couple reportedly sought out professional help as they tried to work through their issues. However, they ultimately came to the conclusion that divorce was the best option for their family.
"This was not a hasty decision; a lot of thought and therapy went into this," Storms added. "We went to therapy for a long time, trying to figure out how to communicate better with each other. It's not anything that we dislike about each other."
Barash also added that the couple feels raising their daughter in two separate homes would be "a healthier choice for all of us."
Despite the news, they will both still attend the General Hospital Family Weekend in New Jersey this weekend.
The soap opera stars tied the knot in 2013 with an impromptu ceremony at Caesar's Palace.
Just five months after getting married Barash and Storms welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Harper Rose, now 2.
