Ex-minister Orubebe Appears in Court

Former minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godsday Orubebe, on Wednesday, April 20, appeared at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja. He arrived at about 10am where he took his seat beside the lawmakers.   Saraki, Orubebe meet at CCT However, the trial of Bukola Saraki, the Senate
president is also meant to take place at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) this morning. Although none of the trials has begun, Justice Danladi Umar, the presiding judge is yet to arrive.  The CCT chairman had at that time frowned at the request. Umar had told the prosecution to ensure they were prepared before filing a matter before the tribunal. The former minister was arraigned on November 8, 2015 on charges of false assets declaration to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and acceptance of a bribe of N70m. Recall that counsel to the defence Kanu Agabi (SAN) had yesterday requested for adjournment till 12pm today to allow his team go over the evidence. This request was refused by Umar on the grounds that he cannot go back on his words. “We are not here for one person. We are doing this on the provisions of this act. I have said it and that is final,” Umar said.
