We are tearing up already.Channing Tatum is eyeing a new film project centering on one
dad’s heartbreaking story of losing his wife days after she gave birth to their
daughter and having to raise the little girl as a single parent.According to Us
Weekly, the movie, which Tatum wants to executive produce and possibly star, is
based on Matt Logelin’s bestselling memoir, Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of
Loss and Love.Logelin and wife Liz welcomed their daughter, Maddy, in 2008,
seven weeks before she was due. Matt had a blog and shared the happy news with
his readers – but three days later wrote that Liz had died of a pulmonary
embolism as she was walking down the hall to the NICU to visit her daughter.
Matt wrote at the time, “Doctors and nurses rushed to help
her. But nothing could be done to bring her back. No one to blame. Sh*tty luck
and a pulmonary embolism are what led us to the saddest, most horrific moment
of my life.” Liz was only 30.
The Yellow Pages project manager continued to blog about his
feelings of loneliness and struggles raising Maddy on his own, which culminated
into his 2011 memoir.
Now, eight years later, Logelin is thrilled there might be a
movie. He told Us, “I’d of course be beyond flattered if the movie ever gets
made and if he’d even consider taking on the role of me. We haven’t met yet,
but if this moves forward, I’m hoping that we’ll be hanging out a lot, and if
we do, I’m sure we’ll become fast friends.”The proud dad also gushed about his
now 8-year-old daughter. “Beyond the obvious physical resemblances, Maddy is
thoughtful, caring and incredibly in tune with the emotions of those around
her, just like her mom was. She’s also strong, confident and unwilling to be
treated differently simply because she’s a little girl.”
Yeah, there will be not a dry eye in the theater.
