Kudos to the very BRAVe air-hostess that put an end to all dat lunatism(i just formed lunatism..lol)......read the update below:An man who allegedly hijacked an EgyptAir flight bound for Cairo to land in Cyprus was arrested following a tense standoff Tuesday morning, the airline said.
The president of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, said the alleged hijacking was "not something that has to do with terrorism." Sources told CNN and NBC that the alleged hijacking was a personal matter involving a woman and not a terrorist act.
EgyptAir MS181 was heading from Alexandria to Cairo when it was diverted to Larnaca airport in Cyprus, where it landed around around 7:50 a.m. local time (12:50 a.m. ET), NBC News reports. The 56 passengers reportedly included eight Americans. After authorities negotiated with the alleged hijacker, most of the passengers were freed, EgyptAir said on Facebook. But three unidentified foreign passengers, as well as the pilot, co-pilot and two cabin crew members, were still aboard the plane, along with the hijacker, EgyptAir said in a Facebook post at 6:30 a.m. ET.
At around 7:30 a.m. ET, several people were seen walking out of the plane, and one person crawled out of a cockpit window and dropped to the ground, according to live footage on CNN.
A short time later, EgyptAir announced on Twitter that the alleged hijacker had been apprehended. It was not immediately clear if any of the hostages had been harmed.
The alleged hijacker, whom Cyprus officials identified as Seif Eldin Mustafa, had alleged claimed to be wearing a suicide belt and threatened to detonate it, but officials could not confirm if that was true, reports The New York Times.people
