And now, we Diddy Bop to celebrate.Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs earns major kudos for founding a free public school in Harlem, where he was raised,
which will provide year-round college preparatory education come the fall of 2016.
The Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School will be overseen byDr. Steve Perry, who founded the Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut back in 2005 while esteemed educator Danita Jones will serve as principal.
“Creating this school is a dream come true for me,” Combs stated in a press release. “I want to impact the lives of young people in my community, and build future leaders. The first step is offering access to a quality education.”
“Every young person should have the tools they need to succeed. All our children should be able to pursue their dreams. That is something I can impact with this school.”
Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School is also currently accepting applications for students in the 6th and 7th grades and will expand a grade each year until it is fully enrolled at 700 students in grades 6 through 12. Those who are interested in applying as either a student or staff should check out www.capitalprepharlem.org.celebuzz
