Tyra Banks Introduces Her Son York to the World

Calling it “the happiest Valentine’s Day of [her] life,” Tyra Banks shared a photo of her son York on Instagram Sunday. Last month, Banks revealed that she and her boyfriend Erik Asla had had a son via surrogate.

“He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin,” Banks, 42, said, sharing a photo of a baby’s hat.

Last year on FABLife, Banks spoke of her emotional journey to become a mother, saying she’d been taking IVF treatments to help her conceive. At the time, co-host Chrissy Teigen also spoke about her fertility struggles with. Shortly after, Teigen and her husband John Legend revealed that she was pregnant.

Throughout the years, Banks has said that her career is too demanding to have a child and that she wasn’t ready to slow down yet. However, to become a mother is something Banks has always wanted. “I won’t be happy if I’m not a mother,” Banks told Harper’s Bazaar Singapore in 2012.

Tyra Banks shared the first photo of her son, York, on Instagram -- and it is stunning!

The beautiful photo features Banks, wearing a colorful headscarf, and the weeks-old baby swaddled against her chest, sleeping.

"This is the Happiest Valentine's Day of my life," the 42-year-old former supermodel wrote alongside the picture. "York, Daddy @erikasla and I send you so much love."

No wonder the photo is such a stunner. While Banks is a skilled professional in front of the camera, her Norwegian beau of more than two years, Erik Asla, is successful behind it. Asla's photography has been seen in fashion magazines around the world.

Banks and Asla welcomed York, their first child together, in January, after a surrogate mother gave birth to him. The couple announced his arrival on Instagram with a picture of a tiny baby's beanie.

"The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here," the America's Next Top Model star captioned the photo. "He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world."

Last year, the talk show host opened up about her struggles with fertility and IVF in an interview with People magazine.

"I've had some not happy moments with that, very traumatic moments," she admitted. "It's difficult as you get older. It's not something that can just happen."yahoo
