Oscar speeches have to be the best part of the annual awards show, and the many great ones we have heard over the years truly left a mark in our hearts. Some speeches left us inspired and then there were a few that were just plain funny. 1. Halle Berry
Halle Berry’s 2002 winning speech for her incredible performance in Monster’s Ball was a great mark in Hollywood history because she became the first woman of color to win the Oscar for Best Actress. It was truly a touching and unforgettable moment.

2. Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks might have given the best Oscar acceptance speech back in 1993 for his role in Philadelphia. It was nothing but perfect. Tom saying, “The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels,” will forever have us weeping.

3. Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1999 Oscar acceptance speech for her role in Shakespeare In Love probably left everyone in tears! Her emotional message to her family truly touched many people’s hearts that night.

4. Robin Williams
There is no denying that Robin Williams gave an amazing performance in Good Will Hunting, and when he won the Oscar for his 1997 role, the world couldn’t have been more excited. His speech was both funny and heartwarming, which was in true Robin fashion.

2011 was a great year for Sandra Bullock! We are thankful that the actress won an Oscar for her fantastic performance in The Blind Side because of the awesome speech she gave. Sandra made it clear to everyone that the two people you should always thank is your mom and Meryl Streep! Ha!

Alright, alright, alright! How can Matthew McConaughey not make this list?! His 2014 acceptance speech for his role in Dallas Buyers Club was just great. Matthew touched on his faith and the personal relationships he had has in his life. It was b-e-a-utiful.
7. Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are probably the cutest best friend duo ever! Seeing them win the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting was so much fun to watch. Matt and Ben had so much enthusiasm that night and they were just so freaking happy. What’s not to love about that!

8. Rita Moreno
When Rita Moreno won the 1962 Oscar for her firecracker performance in West Side Story, she gave the best reaction ever! She also kept her speech short, sweet and to the point!

9. Cuba Gooding Jr.
Cuba Gooding Jr.’s 1997 acceptance speech for his role in Jerry Maguire is the perfect example of how everyone should do their speeches! The talented actor thanked literally every possible person he could and even when the orchestra music came on to send him off, he continued on with his speech. Is was truly entertaining and one of the most passionate speeches given on the Oscar stage.

10. Sally Field
“You like me! You really like me!” Wondering where that line came from? Well, it was from Sally Field’s 1985 Oscar acceptance speech for her role in Places in the Heart. We gotta thank her for that one!

11. Sidney Potier

Legendary actor, Sidney Potier, won the Oscar back in 1964 for his role in Lillies of the Field, but it was his acceptance speech for his Honorary Award in 2002 that really made an impact on all who watched that night.

12. Meryl Streep

Last but not least, it’s Meryl Streep. Her opening line for her 2012 Academy Award acceptance speech for her role in The Iron Lady did not disappoint the crowd. “Oh no. C’mon. Why? Her again?” You gotta love her!
