Private Call Between Bill Clinton and Tony Blair After Princess Diana’s Death

Newly published transcripts of phone calls between then-President Bill Clinton and the U.K.'s former Prime Minister Tony Blair reveal that the political leaders discussed their concerns over Prince William and Prince Harry after the death of their mother, Princess Diana.

Clinton, who was vacationing in Martha's Vineyard at the time, spoke with Blair for 25 minutes – from 11:39 to 11:54 a.m. – on September 1, 1997, the day after Diana's death.

Blair called the Princess's death "a grim business," and recalled seeing Diana just a few weeks prior to her death when he hosted both her and Prince William for lunch. People
