Swift teased that she would premiere the video during the show earlier this month, and released the first image from the clip this week. The preview, though, showed little detail about the video, which is filled with fairytale imagery, including enchanted vines (think Maleficent), menacing wolves, a snowy winter landscape, flowy underwater scenes, and an ending in which Swift’s damsel in distress is saved by none other than herself.
At the end of the video, these words appear: “She lost him, but she found herself, and somehow that was everything.” Not coincidentally, the same phrase was the secret message in the liner notes for ‘Clean’ on Swift’s 1989. And the same message appeared on screen at the end of her world tour promoting the album.
“Out of the Woods” follows music videos already released for other 1989 songs “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Blank Space,” and “Style.”ew,youtube
