Guy Ritchie is reportedly ready to fight for custody of 15-year-old son Rocco against his ex-wife Madonna.
According to TMZ, the British director has called in lawyers to go head-to-head with the popstar, as their teen son is keen to remain living in London with his father.
The site claims to have information from an inside source close to Guy, who allege that Rocco finds his mother 'too controlling'.
It is also claimed that Guy, 47, has hired a lawyer in preparation for the custody battle that will ensue.
However, it appears that Madonna has hit back over her former husband hiring a lawyer in a new cryptic post on her Instagram page.
Sharing a quote by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, the words seemed to have a bearing on her current situation, and could have been aimed at her son.
The quote read: 'One way of measuring the strength of an attacker is by looking at the sort of opponents he needs.
'You can always tell when something is growing because it will go looking for powerful adversaries or problems.'
She added: 'Preach Nietzche...................⭕. As we enter the 7 weeks of exile and redemption #rebelheart. @cityofnopity.'
Meanwhile, a judge in New York has demanded that Rocco must return to the United States in February to attend a hearing in regards his current living situation.
At the moment, Rocco living in London with Guy, his new wife Jacqui Ainsley and their three children after reportedly growing 'miserable' about being carted around the world by his mother on her current tour, resulting in 'full-blown fights' between them.
It has also been reported that the teen told his father that he felt 57-year-old Madonna treated him more like a trophy than a son.
The relationship between mother and son is alleged to have escalated during the Stockholm leg of her Rebel Heart tour.
Meanwhile, to add insult to injury, Rocco is said to have blocked his famous mother from looking at his Instagram account, while still having Guy and stepmother Jacqui among his 138,000 followers.
'It's not a great sign that Rocco is blocking his mum on social media, especially after all the rumours that she was embarrassing him with her posts about him,' a source told The Sun.
'It's even more of a blow because he allows Jacqui and Guy to still follow him and he follows them back. Hopefully this is just a teenage teething problem.'
Elsewhere, the Queen Of Pop shared a Photoshopped image of a younger version of herself with her lookalike daughter Lourdes Leon, 19, in the midst of the tense sitation.
Sharing a sweet black-and-white snap of the two of them looking like doppelgangers, Madonna showed how close she is to her eldest child by captioning the image, 'DoubleTrouble Coming at you 2016', alongside a heart emoji.
MailOnline has contacted Madonna's representatives for comment.
This comes just after Madonna remained defiant as she posted a thinly-veiled Instagram post on New Year's Eve.
The Material Girl hitmaker snapped a selfie alongside the caption: 'Bithces R U in my Gang? (sic)'
The shout-out could be taken in reference to her eldest son, who is at the centre of a custody battle between the singer and her director ex.
Meanwhile, Guy made sure fans knew his feelings as he rang in 2016.
His wife Jacqui also took to social media site as the clock turned midnight, posting a loved-up snap of her kissing the Sherlock Holmes auteur on the cheek.
Madonna recently described Rocco as the 'sunshine in my life', posting a throwback snap of the pair of them.
The family are in a fractious state as the teenager shared a video of his Christmas in London - as she and Guy battle over where the teen will live.
While Rocco was flaunting his usual edgy ways by sharing a clip on Instagram showing him skateboarding on the underground, Madonna gushed about her son on the photosharing site.
Rocco appeared to be enjoying the London life as he jetted around on a skateboard, after relocating to the UK while his passport is held in the capital in the midst of the custody battle.
While the teen was sharing his video, his mother Madonna was quick to share her festive sentiment toward her beloved son.
She shared a cute throwback snap of the duo as they both enjoyed a laugh, while adding thecaption: 'Merry X-mas to the Sun-shine of my Life!'
Rocco is said to have grown upset after being on the road for two months on the pop star's Rebel Heart tour where he worked backstage.
Fans are now speculating if his mother's insistence on embarrassing him by posting a catalogue of awkward photos of him online has proved to be the straw that has broken the camel's back, forcing the teen away.
He is said to have accompanied the singer for much of the trip, which included dates across the US and Canada including Vancouver, Los Angeles and Washington.
As Guy and Madonna work out the transatlantic custody dispute, their son's passport is said to be being held for safekeeping in London by a lawyer who is representing him.
The row became public on Wednesday when Madonna went to court in New York to try and force Rocco to return to the US to spend Christmas with her.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan ruled that he has to return to America some time before the start of the new school year.
The exact source of Rocco's frustration is not clear but Madonna has posted numerous pictures and videos of him on Instagram that could have caused him embarrassment.
In May she posted one video of him doing a back flip wearing orange underwear with the caption 'Rocco's preferred profile #nosausage'.
It was seen by her 4.7 million followers on the photo sharing app.dilymail
