David Bowie Broke (One of) Adele’s Vevo Record(s)

David Bowie just said “Hello” to a Vevo record previously held by Adele.

The rock icon, who died of liver cancer on Sunday, Jan. 10, just snagged the record for most video views in a single day. Billboard reports that videos from Bowie’s catalog were streamed 51 million (!!!) times on Jan. 11, shattering the single-day record held by Adele since Oct. 23, 2015, when her videos were streamed 36 million (!!!) times. Bowie’s final music video, “Lazarus,” was the most-watched video of the day with 11 million views.Something tells us Adele won’t mind: she still holds, you know, basically every other record, including most views for one video in a 24-hour period. (“Hello” was streamed 27.7 million times the day of its release.)
As Bowie’s death continues to reverberate through the world, those touched by his inimitable legacy continue listening to his work and offering up tributesBlackstar, Bowie’s final album — his 28th studio recording — is set to become his first-ever album to top the Billboard Album 200. The world is missing you, Mr. Bowie, though we are honored you left us with these final gifts.celebuzz, youtube
