Many car pundits hailed the upcoming Cadillac CT6 to be the most important car on the company's history, as it aims to recapture its former glory in the high-end sedan market. According to the USA Today, the luxury car is designed, built and conceptualized to beat the current market's leading luxury vehicles.
The CT6 may be the embodiment of billions of dollars of investments and engineering hard work as Cadillac makes its case to be once again, hailed as the most advanced and most desirable luxury car brand.
According to Stephanie Brinly, an IHS Automotive senior analyst, "It's the next stage in Cadillac's development, It's critically important. Cadillac is on a journey. It must get everything right to win high-end luxury customers' interest."
She noted that the Cadillac CT6 must get the right market and not just simply go after sales numbers. According to her, the high-end segment right now is not looking at Cadillac's direction when shopping for a luxury car.
Currently, the Mercedes S-Class, along with the BMW 7-series, are the undisputed leaders of luxury cars. It's also dominating the luxury sedan market. She added that "Right now, those buyers don't think about Cadillac at all."
Despite its "prim and proper" design, the Chicago Tribune reported that the CT6's specifications can go toe-to-toe with the industry's current performance cars.
For its engine, users can choose between a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that gives 256 horsepower, a 4.6-liter V6 engine that gives 335 horsepower and the top-of-the-line variant that is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that gives 404 horsepower. All variants of the Cadillac CT6 will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, in a rear or all-wheel drive train.
For Joe Phillippi, a well-known auto consultant, he said that Cadillac will not sell huge numbers like the Mercedes S-Class, but added that the company should still execute the car flawlessly.
He said that it would take more than just sleek design and high-tech additions to win the luxury car market. For Philippi, the Cadillac CT6's doors must "close like a bank vault" in addition to fine details like the stitching, the seams and the gaps between the body must all be smooth.latinpost
Lastly, he said that the CT6's controls should be user friendly, as it has been the usual concern with high-tech vehicles -- it's not very easy to use.
The upcoming Cadillac CT6 has a projected price of $53,495 for the base model and $87,465 for the top-of-the-line variant.,youtube
