The Golden Globes kicks off awards season on Sunday, Jan. 10, and so many of our favorite TV stars are nominated. HollywoodLife.com’s staff has gone through the TV nominees and picked the stars and shows who deserve Globes this year. From Game of Thrones to Veep to American Horror Story: Hotel, it’s been one incredible year in TV!

Mr. Robot has everything — a strong leading cast, brilliant writing, and twists that you never expected. Everyone knows that the Hollywood Foreign Press loves loves loves the newcomers, and Rami Malek is freakin’ awesome.

Let’s be honest: seeing the same shows win the same awards year after year makes for a pretty boring awards show, doesn’t it? That being said, Outlander was not only a fantastic series, it took risks. A lot of risks. Any show that can be THAT good and still push the envelope definitely deserves to be recognized!

I am obsessed with Outlander, but I truly believe Game of Thrones will walk away with the win this year. The show was brilliant on all levels, and not one storyline was a letdown. From Cersei’s walk of shame to Tyrion and Daenerys meeting for the first time, season 5 was Game of Thrones’ best season yet.

I mean, see above. I get it (sorry, Avery) — Jon Hamm deserves recognition as it was his last season of an amazing series and he hasn’t won in five years, but let’s be honest, Rami’s strong performance week after week had everyone hooked on night one of a brand new show. Not an easy task to achieve.

Oh man, I’m torn straight down the middle when it comes to the handsome leads of both Mr Robot and Mad Men. Is it possible to split the Golden Globe in half?
Avery
This is the last time Jon Hamm will be nominated for his role as Don Draper. Over the course of the last 7 seasons, we’ve come to realize who Don really is at his core. Jon mastered his role as the brilliant, enigmatic ad man, and it would be a travesty if he didn’t win a Golden Globe for the role.

My vote for this one — just like it did for the Emmys — goes to Veep. Again, I’m not a Julia Louis-Dreyfus lover (sorry guys, I hated Seinfeld), but her role in this show is one of the most entertaining ever. Plus, it continues to be good time after time.

Orange Is The New Black was on another level in it’s third season. Whether it was a ridiculous hate sex scene between Piper and Alex in a bed bug infested library, or Suzanne’s insane-but-brilliant prison erotica, the laughter was endless. Team OITNB!
Avery
Veep just keeps on getting better — it’s sharp and downright hilarious. This ensemble cast — led by a perfect Julia Louis-Dreyfus — is the best in comedy.

I think Aziz Ansari is having a moment, and because his hilarious series, Master of None, is so dang funny, he deserves the globe here.
Avery
I know Jeffrey is going to win (and he deserves it), but I have loved Rob’s turn as the charismatic, self-deprecating Dean on The Grinder.

This is the toughest for me as I’m a Gina Rodriguez fan, Veep is hilarious and Lily Tomlin needs no description. However, I predict that it’s going to be Jamie Lee Curtis, the Scream Queen herself that will take home the Globe this year. She hasn’t been nominated in 12 years, and just the scene where she imitated her mother’s Psycho scene was more than enough. Plus, the way she delivered that dialogue was absolutely hysterical.

I may be in the minority here, but I would absolutely love to see Jamie Lee Curtis take this one. Although Scream Queens had it’s problems, she was a bright, shining star amidst a sea of up-and-coming talent.
Avery
I’m torn between Gina Rodriguez and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Gina is so endearing and hilarious on Jane the Virgin, but I just think Julia is back at the top in terms of women in comedy. Season four featured a major shift in Veep — Selina becomes the President of the United States — and the show held its own and then some.

All of these ones are incredible, but I’m going to be honest — Eva Green‘s deserved this for a long time. Penny Dreadful is such a beautiful and underrated show, that this one needs to go to her.

Caitriona Balfe is the new kid on the block, but she is giving these known nominees a run for their money. Caitriona tackled the role of the beloved Claire Fraser with ease. Her performance, alongside the equally brilliant (but snubbed) Sam Heughan, was so powerful she took my breath away.

Give Gaga all the awards! I am a little torn on this one as Sarah Hay broke out of nowhere portraying the perfect wrecked ballerina for Flesh & Bone. However, Lady Gaga overcame all of the stereotypes that claim singers who “try” to act, can’t. Well she can. And damn well.
Lauren:
It may have been a mini-series, but Flesh and Bone was a standout in 2015 television. Sarah Hay carried the show by portraying a beautiful but severely emotionally damaged young woman trying to find her way. Few performances compare to Sarah’s, and even though she’s up against some serious talent, she’s the clear choice for me.
Avery:
This is a really tough category, because all of the nominees were great. But I think this is Kirsten Dunst’s year. Her role as the flawed Peggy in Fargo was a great change for her. The girl came to TV and totally rocked it out.

The entire cast of Fargo is impressive and Patrick Wilson was just one small part, so I’m going to go with Idris Elba for this one.

Fargo is one of the few exciting shows that also likes to push the envelope a bit, and if you haven’t noticed by now that’s something I’m really into as a view. That being said, Patrick Wilson has been underrated for quite some time, so I think this could be his moment.
Avery
Oscar Isaac is everywhere these days, as he should be. He proved he’s a total acting chameleon as a Yonkers mayor in HBO’s Show Me A Hero. He single-handedly carried the miniseries, and he deserves recognition for that amazing feat.

If there’s anyone relatable in TV, it’s Maura Tierney in The Affair. I yelped when she got the nomination as I’ve loved her since ER (and Liar Liar), and her portrayal of a torn-apart wife who was left by her cheating husband is just breathtaking.

As I mentioned earlier, Uzo Aduba‘s character Suzanne on Orange Is The New Black was a pure form of delight. Then again, I do have to say that Maura Tierney is giving these nominees a run for the money with her broken divorcee performance on The Affair. Another tie for me!
Avery:
Judith Light gets my vote every single time! Watching her and Jeffrey Tambor on screen together is simply magical.

If Tobias Menzies doesn’t win, there is something seriously wrong. He was a complete savage as the horrible Black Jack Randall, and he chewed up every single scene he was in on Outlander. Jack, when he mentally and sexually tortured Jamie Fraser, proved just how much of a monster he really is, and Tobias’ delivery was unforgettable.

This one again, comes down to Flesh and Bone vs. American Horror Story: Hotel. While the cast, the writing, the costumes, etc. were breathtakingly talented in both, I’m pulling for Ryan Murphy‘s show to get the W.
Lauren:
I’ve already made my case for Flesh and Bone, which, as you can see, my colleagues were really into as well.
Avery:
Fargo didn’t really do it for me this year, so I’m going rogue and pulling for Flesh & Bone. The show was absolutely breathtaking from start to finish — the gorgeous ballet dancing will literally bring you to tears. The show is definitely the dark horse this year, and Flesh & Bone should really be rewarded because of the performances and the brutal physicality of the roles.
