Timbaland reveals previously unreleased Aaliyah track, 'Shakin'

After hinting that he’d drop previously unreleased music from Aaliyah, Timbaland came through on his promise on Christmas Day. The track list for his mixtape King Stays King includes “Shakin,” a duet he produced featuring the late singer.


“Aaliyah.. This is for you baby,” Timbaland wrote on Twitter with a link to the track, which you can listen to below.Aaliyah died in a plane crash on Aug. 25, 2001. Throughout her career, she collaborated with Timbaland on many of her most notable tracks, including “Try Again,” “Are You That Somebody?,” and “I Am Music.”

He told Revolt TV in 2013, “People always say, ‘I’m going to do a song with Aaliyah.’ It will never work. Chris Brown got a record, it won’t work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain’t gonna work. Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me.”

According to Billboard, King Stays King is meant to be a preview of Timbaland’s Textbook Timbo, his upcoming album dropping in 2016. ew
