Despite the fact that Taylor Swift nabbed seven Grammy nominations on Monday morning,
apparently the Hawks' entire roster had remained blissfully unaware of her very existence – or, at the very least, her lyrics. How? We're not entirely sure. Maybe it was all that misogi Kyle Korver made them do in the offseason?
As a part of a little game they like to call "Country Grammar" (how has Nelly not trademarked that yet?) the Hawks asked four of their players – Kent Bazemore, Al Horford, Mike Muscala and Tim Hardaway Jr. – to read lyrics out loud to determine whether or not they are part of an actual song. The lyrics: "I was riding shotgun with my hair undone in the front seat of his car. I grabbed a pen and an old napkin, and I wrote down our song," which are from "Our Song," a hugely successful single off Swift's 2006 self-titled debut album.
I know it. You know it. But the Hawks clearly don't – because all but one of them thought it was fake.
"Ah, OK. It is a song. Great lyrics," Muscala said sarcastically.
Shake it off, fellas. You have bigger things to focus on anyway, even if this gives you zero chance of landing Russell Westbrook when he becomes a free agent in 2017.rollingstone
