Real Madrid star Gareth Bale landed himself in a sticky spot when one reporter refused to accept anything less than a concrete answer from the Welshman when asked whether his teammate Cristiano
Ronaldo was the world's best.
Normally, these types of questions mean little when members of opposing teams are asked them, but when it comes to those closest to Ronaldo, as we've seen with Rafa Benitez, the Portuguese star expects support.
Bale may not be on Ronaldo's good side for too much longer after he was forced into a corner from which he emerged with the diplomatic answer that CR7 is "one of the best" in the world.
Ah, close! But no cigar.
"[My relationship with Ronaldo] is very good," Bale told the press (h/t 101greatgoals). "You all, in the media, have a lot of stories which aren't true.
"We're very good and we help each other score goals so we're happy to help the team."
That line of questioning led to the point where Bale refused to (or did depending on how you look at it) cross the Rubicon.
Reporter: Do you think Cristiano is the best player in the world?
Bale: Yeah, he's one of the best players in the world, I think he's shown that year after year...
Reporter: One of the best. Not the best?
Bale: *Sheepish smile* That's up to you. He's a great player.
