Nigeria:Appeal Court Uphold Akpabio's Election

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday, upheld the election of Minority Leader of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio of Peoples Democratic Party.

The All Progressives Congress candidate in the March 28 National Assembly elections, Inibehe Okori, had appealed the decision of the Elections Petition Tribunal, which upheld Akpabio’s election as the senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in the Senate.

News of the former Akwa Ibom state governor’s victory at the appellate court has laid to rest contrary reports that his election was nullified.
In reaction to his victory at the Appeal Court, Sen. Akpabio took to Twitter to express his appreciation to Nigerians.

My election has just been upheld by the Court of Appeal. Thank you Nigerians. #GA
