What a fight! Ronda Rousey, 28, and Holly Holm, 34, squared off at UFC 193 in a highly anticipated MMA bout. One would go home a champion, the other with their first loss. Despite Ronda being favored to win the match, Holly came in charging and ended up victorious! Read more about the epic upset here!
Neither combatant showed fear when they entered the Octagon on Nov. 14, at the first ever UFC event at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Ronda had a lot on the line — not only was she defending her Women’s Bantamweight Championship, but she was 12-0 going into this match! But as soon as the match began, it was clear that Holly had one mission: Take Ronda down. After Ronda started the first round with wild swings at her opponent, Holly nailed Ronda square in the jaw. Once Ronda got Holly into a clinch, Holly wasn’t even phased and managed to not only escape it, but also make Ronda bleed in her retaliation! In an impressive beginning, Holly won the round 10-9.
But that wasn’t even the most amazing part…round two proved Holly to be Ronda’s toughest opponent yet! Clearly shaken up from her first round loss, Ronda tried to serve up some punches, but Holly wasn’t going down easy. Then, the unthinkable happened — Holly served up a head kick that knocked Ronda right out! Holly came out on top with a KO at the 59-second mark of the second round!
