Gigi Hadid's New Bob Is Not What You Think

Gigi Hadid's long blond mane seemed to be chopped into a chic bob when we first spotted her on the red carpet at the 2015 American Music Awards. Her hair was slicked back sans a part and straight.
But the mega model totally fooled us!

When Giuliana Rancic asked her about the cut, Gigi admitted it's actually a wig. "You can check back tomorrow to see if I have short hair...there [are] tricks of the trade," she said, with a mysterious look in her eyes. Giuliana responded that Gigi was just "testing it out." For the record, it's a solid hairpiece — we can't see any lace front or clue that it's faux.

Gigi accessorized the faux hair with brushed-up brows and well-placed highlighter on the inner corners of her eyes and cheekbones (learn how to DIY these strobing hacks here).

Celebrity hair pro Bryce Scarlett created the 'do using Matrix products. "I was really inspired by the neckline of the dress! The dress called for shot, sexy, easy-looking hair," Bryce said.

The hair pro also told us the truth about the faux hairpiece: "This was a partial wig with Gigi's real hair in the front." And when we asked if Gigi actually got her hair cut, he replied, "Gigi didn't really cut her hair — don't know if she would be willing to let go of her beautiful blond locks."

DIY it at home by prepping towel-dried strands with Matrix Style Link Volume Builder Mousse ($18) at the roots and a dime-sized amount of the Style Link Gloss Booster ($20) to ends. Comb it through. Next, with a medium-barreled round brush, blow out hair away from the face. For instant volume and separation, add hair powder to the top and smooth it back with a boar-bristle brush. Finish with more shine serum and a flat iron to make hair look piecey. A mist of texturizing spray will give it even more added edge.

We are loving Gigi with short strands. Keep reading to see more angles of her hair, and then tell us how you feel about it!popsugar
