Hey everyone! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you may have already heard that I had the incredible opportunity to partner with Burberry and travel across the pond to London to attend the Burberry In addition to seeing the presentation up close, I also got to join press to check out the red carpet and got a backstage pass to see the day-of details for the beauty look the models wore. The 3-part combo was both a first for the brand as well as a dream to experience for me. I'm still a little breathless after that gorgeous, whirlwind trip!
We're going to start off using the Face Contour pen on the hollows of the cheeks, sides of the nose, and under the jawline to add definition. I find shade Medium No. 01 to look really natural on my skintone. You can use a brush to blend, but I find fingers work excellently to warm the product and blend really smoothly.
Next, go over the skin with a thin veil of Fresh Glow Foundation in areas outside the contour pen. This creates dimension with very natural skin texture which I always greatly appreciate.
Moving on to the eyes, take the same Face Contour pen from before and use this to create depth in the eye sockets. I looooove using this in place of eyeshadow since the color looks really lovely and natural on the lids plus it's so quick to apply! A nice full brow looks very "now" and British as well.
For the lips, take the Lip Definer Lip Shaping Pencil in Oxblood No. 437 and define the desired shape (which, for the record, may or may not be your natural lip shape) then fill in lips with my absolute favorite Lip Velvet Lipstick in Oxblood No. 437. This color gives me LIFE!
A trick to give the lips that just-kissed, easy goth look is to take a dry cotton swab and blur the edges, which makes the lips both more wearable and easier to maintain.
Finally, finish off the look with the Fresh Glow Highlighting Pen to the inner corners of the eyes, tops of cheeks, and the cupid's bow of the top lip. So, so easy but it brings just the right pop and polish to bring it all together.
What I really loved most about this look is what Wendy Rowe (Burberry's Make-up Artistic Consultant) describes as being "honest." Steps I considered to be traditional were flip-flopped in a really effortless way. It's also so opinionated and yet simultaneously down-to-earth and doable which definitely suits my love of experimentation and not taking beauty rules too seriously! All in all, I absolutely love it and will definitely be borrowing ideas in the future. Contour pen video, anyone? ;)
