Westbrook, who’s teamed with Michael Valiante and Mike Rockenfeller in the No. 90 car, will start inside Christian Fittipaldi on the front row for the start of the 10-hour race — the season finale for the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. The race is expected to be held in dreadful conditions — forecasts call for three to five inches of rain and local flooding in areas east of Atlanta — but Westbrook likes the team’s chances.
“We’ve got a better car in the wet, probably better than we’ve got in the dry,” Westbrook said. “The weather forecast is making us smile at the moment, but it’s changing all the time, so we’ll see. It’s just such a long race. Petit Le Mans is brutal with all the traffic and everybody running for a championship. It’s going to be pretty mad out there.”usatoday
