The red-haired star of the iconic Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street, Maureen O’Hara has passed away at the age of 95.
Known for her spirited attitude, striking red hair and stunning green eyes, the Irish-American actress rose to fame in Hollywood in the 1940s and ‘50s, earning the title of the Queen of Technicolor.
However, one of her most famous films was Miracle on 34th Street, which premiered in 1947 in black and white.
Of her movies in color, the one for which she is most well known is The Quiet Man, which came out in 1952 and was the beginning of a longtime on-screen pairing with John Wayne.
Wayne once famously said of his titian-haired costar:
I’ve had many friends, and I prefer the company of men, except for Maureen O’Hara. She is a great guy.
O’Hara’s longtime manager, Johnny Nicoletti, confirmed her death in her Boise, Idaho home on Saturday, October 24, 2015.Celebuz
