Twilight author Stephenie Meyer shocked fans early Tuesday morning and announced that in honor of the vampire saga’s 10th anniversary,
she wrote a 442-page reimagining of Twilight told from the perspectives of a male human and a female vampire. Called Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, it follows Beaufort (formerly Bella) and Edythe (formerly Edward) as they fall in love.
Now, EW has an exclusive preview of the Life and Death audiobook. In the four-minute clip below, Beau, narrated by actor Michael Crouch, sees the Cullens for the first time in the school cafeteria. The scene is similar to the one described in Twilight but there are telling differences, and it sets up how the rest of the book will play out when the genders are flipped. In an interview with Good Morning America, Meyer said Beau was “more OCD” than Bella and that he’s “totally missing the chip Bella carries around on her shoulder all the time.”Ew
