He looked and sounded like the President of the world.
In a week when so many other world leaders, including President Obama, came to the United Nations, this extraordinary Pope was the one to command the attention and the respect of the cities he visited, and the country, as he did something that seemed the opposite of what we too often see in the current political climate, and in this presidential campaign. It means he spoke to the best of us.
He spoke to the best of us whether we are Catholic or not, Democrat or Republican, pro-life or pro-choice, whether we are smart enough to care about global warming, or dumb enough to continue treating an endangered planet like something the tree huggers made up.dailynews
