It looks like unlucky-in-love actress Kristen Stewart found a healthy way to channel some personal heartbreak into her work. During an interview with Variety before the premiere of her new film Equals at the Toronto International Film Festival, Stewart spilled on how her own relationship woes informed her latest role.
Filming the movie, a dystopian sci-fi drama, was a cathartic experience for the star, who endured relentless tabloid scrutiny in the wake of her breakup from Twilight saga costar Robert Pattinson and relationship with director Rupert Sanders.
“At this stage of my life where I’m close to these awakening periods, and it’s a big deal for me, and to represent them so basically and so hard was intimidating as hell,” she said of playing the role, which she also called "painful."
Equals, directed by Drake Doremus, is a sci-fi romance drama costarring J Lawr's ex-beau Nicholas Hoult. It centers on Nia (Stewart) and Silas (Hoult), would-be lovers grappling with life in a futuristic society devoid of those pesky emotional entanglements with other humans, like love and romance. You know what they say, Kristen — better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Source:refinery 29
