Janet Jackson Recruits Missy Elliott for Propulsive Song, 'Burnitup!

When Janet Jackson kicked off her world tour
in Vancouver, she debuted the propulsive new song "Burnitup!" featuring Missy Elliott.
Now the uptempo, club-friendlrst LP in seven years – is available to stream online.

The track, fueled by glossy keys and thick synth-bass, finds Jackson promising to "dance like no one's watching" and "show you how to burn it up." Elliott's goofy guest spot is full of meows, groove instructions ("Dis dat jam, now do yo dance") and shout-outs to her collaborator.

"Burnitup!" is the third sample of Jackson's new album, out October 2nd on her newly founded Rhythm Nation Label. The singer previously shared her comeback slow-jam single "No Sleeep" (along with a remix featuring a guest spot from J. Cole) and the soulful fan dedication "Unbreakable."

The 17-track LP, Jackson's 11th studio set, finds the singer reunited with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who last collaborated with Jackson on 2006's 20 Y.O. "It's wonderful to be creating again with Janet," the duo said in a statement. "From songwriting, producing, arranging, singing, dancing, acting, she deftly does it all and truly personifies the word 'artist.' Unbreakable is a gift to all of her fans who have steadfastly stood by her."

In a description posted on the singer's official site, Unbreakable will "mark the first time Janet Jackson has opened up about her brother Michael and with reflections concerning her youth" and also explore "Janet's views on where we stand today as individuals and as the inter-related elements of a planet."
